Blech

Going on week two of random mid-sleep wakeups wherein I am convinced I have badly overslept and missed my entire shift.

What even is causing this? (Don't say stress, I'm sure it's stress! But what is causing the stress!? Is it lack of sleep? Because the lack of sleep sure ain't helping, gotta say.)

So. update about my love life since a lot has happened. Tbh, right now, I hate that the only eventful things I post about are about my "love life" (I hate that word, idk why i just don't) but alas, here we are. First thing that happened was on Wednesday. Me and Wax were walking to lunch, as we often do, and a mutual friend (male) came up behind us and asked if we were dating, and I lowkirkenly panicked and said "no?" and then walked away to a club meeting I had that day during lunch. That evening our thespian troupe went to see a pre-opening performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (which was amazing, and the performance of actor who played Draco made me cry) I sat next to will the entire show. But during intermission, this 7th grader, Thomas, stood next to me almost the entire time, then moved to sit next to me during the second act. I had suspected something for a while, since he had been doing stuff like that during the entirety of our Mary Poppins tech week/performances, and he had done a monologue about the woman he loved being in love with someone else and kept on looking at me the entire time. Then on Friday, I sat by Wax (I usually sit across from him) and as we were eating, I put my hair bow on his t-shirt sleeve. his friend immediately noticed and was nonverbally trying to ask if I liked him, (so Wax wouldn't notice) but I kept on dodging the question until he just said "DO YOU LIKE WAX?" and I (abshfdwejnadqj) froze, blushed, died inside, didn't say anything for 5 seconds, until someone from a nearby table brought me into the conversation, and the subject was changed. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
But it was okay, bc on saturday he texted me to come to this garage/bake sale he was helping run, and I came, and afterward we went to a birthday party for two guys, so like a double b-day (I was the only girl there which lowkey was awkward) but he moved to sit by me the whole party! (it was a board game/video game party! sooo is that like a sign?? (I honestly don't know if I'm being delulu helppp)

Anyways, more recently, I've just started learning ze guitar, which has been...trickier than I thought. I've got a few chords down tho! I've been sitting with Wax's table x2 a week (on nacho days) as a compromise with my friends cuz they think I'm in a situationship??? Anywaysss...
I have a sleepover at my friend's house 4 her bday!! I'm Soo excited, but I still need to burn her cd b4 I go...and pack...oh well, I'll just do it last minute, like always!

I went to look at my Circle here -- haven't done it in a very long time -- and found X's in places where check marks were. Does X mean a ban or block? Or something else?

The sign at the bus stop reminds me that farejumping comes with a fine up to $150

The fare is $3. If you commute, you take the bus or train twice a day, five days a week. Every week you spend $30*. You'd have to be caught and ticketed more often than once every five weeks in order to make this math not work out in your favor. And that is never going to happen, because there aren't nearly enough enforcement agents. As it is, the ones we have cost more than they make back. It's all a racket, but you'll notice the buses still aren't free because Albany is still in control of the MTA.

* I'm making a few assumptions here, first, that you're not sharing the same card among several family members with staggered schedules; once you spend $35 in a week on the same card, subsequent trips are free. Also, this is the full fare for most buses and trains, but not for the express bus.

Miss Fisher

WETA, back when it could be received reliably, occasionally broadcast episodes of "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries". I'm looking further into it, as I'm finally getting to watch the whole bloody series instead of little nibbles of only the first three seasons. WETA did the same cruel game with "McLeod's Daughters", showing only the first two seasons over and over.

IN 2018, I injured my left knee rather badly, and had to sit. A lot. For months. No tendons were actually torn, so surgery wouldn't help. But tendons have practically no circulation, so there's no doing anything about them but wait......... So the guys bought me a cheap TV at Wal-mart. It said onn.Roku on it. Brian rigged me a cheap antenna. We stopped cable a long time ago when the bill increased yet again because they added another ESPN channel. Disgusting.

Since I hadn't a working left knee, and the certified MDs said it would take a long time to mend, I watched TV and mended every item of clothing I had the slightest wear or tear in. Then Brian's, then Brent's. Then went back to mundane beadwork.

Bead people have a slanted way of looking at every little thing. Would it look good as a necklace? could I put a hole in it that would accommodate a jump ring or string? are there enough of them of similar size and different colours to make a suncatcher? Am I clever enough to design a beautiful suncatcher from these beads? I'm still awed by hazelnuts, but haven't figured out how to put their inherent loveliness into jewelry. Some things don't readily lend themselves to human adornment. We just have to look at them in good light and adore their beauty. The depth of the hues in a filbert's stripes is amazing. I just crcked and ate them all my life. Pine cones give me similar pause. They're so mathematically wonderful.

And if you're wondering: Yes, I really do think this way, in these sorts of words. This is my non-cussing voice. If I actually typed the way I think of the world and those who run it I'd be shot in a second. I like words. They're fun toys, like legos. Ooh, I should look up the linguistic root of that toy name. I love legos. The old ones from back when they were blocks.

Grammarly just informed me that I sound snobby and high-falutin'. Grammarly doesn't like a whole lot of the ways I use language. It especially dislikes my use of "I'd've". Should I instead type "Ida" to be more "folksy"? Aisha (or however she spells it) Rascoe and her sweet folkisiness has caused me to gag on Weekend Edition Sunday. Sad. I used to like it. She even makes the Puzzle icky. How Will puts up with her is a tribute to his stiff upper lip. How nicey.

Tuna Salad

Since I'm on the subject of food today i'll talk tuna. The onion I dealt with earlier was left over from making tuna salad. Waste is a sin, no? Canned tuna was a major part of my diet for a very long time, and I have finally tweaked a tuna salad recipe that fits me.

Try finding a tuna salad sandwich without gross amounts of celery in it. I seriously dislike the texture of celery. Chopped very fine it's a lovely flavour. I am not gonna buy a whole bunch of celery to finely chop one or two stalks to make tuna salad. Be Real.

So: Into a medium large mixing bowl put:

One large handful of rolled oats If planning to serve on lettuce maybe two. Rolled oats make for chewiness and body. If serving on bread, make it a scant handful. If you're going to eat it straight out of the bowl because you want high protein nutrition, one good handful will do. Hey, this recipe evolved; it did not spring from my brow as did Minerva from Jove's.

1 can chunk light tuna
1 can solid albacore tuna

The different types of canned tuna is about mouth feel. If you don't care, it doesn't matter. These should be packed in water, unless you are feeding farm workers or are a jock. Dump the water into the bowl with them to moisten the oats. They can sit while you obtain the following:

.25-.325.c. finely chopped fresh onion(previous post covered heewack!successfully dealing with the onion left over from making this salad.)
12-16 neatly diced black olives

Have waiting: 1 diced hard-boiled egg (ican tell you how to make them without sulphur rings around the yolks, if you want to make pretty devilled eggs for a party. It's like long division--atrue algorithm I can't crack the basis of but works.)

Now the tough part: I use about equal volumes of mayonnaise and housebrand spicy horseradish mustard to which I always add some unknown amount of extra horseradish paste until it tastes right. I use mustard liberally, so this the common mustard once I get ynogh horseradish in it. So I guess you'll have your own opinion about mustards and use your own as you see fit. For those trying to eat: Housebrand brown spicy stoneground and horseradish are words to look for.

So I guess about four large forkfuls of each, but this is to your taste. Throw all this stuff together in the mixing bowl until it turns into a chunky pasty blob of the consistency you want. Then fold in the egg. It's protein and pretty.

There. Tuna salad with or without celery. Serve as you wish and get your protein. I usually eat it out of the bowl with a spoon. This a starving old person's sort of recipe. The cost of canned fish has doubled or tripled since I was 20.

huh?

Somewhere along the last few years my Introvert/Extrovert balance must have shifted to the left.

My doctor ordered a blood test that requires a 12-hour fast, so I did the fast, went to get the test first thing after I woke up, then went with the SU to our favorite deli, which was normally busy, and got home -- and I am completely exhausted. Too many people in too little time, also in too small a space. Yet this is the deli we've been going to since 1989, except that we weren't there for the last six years. The food is great, the wait staff is friendly and longterm -- I saw a couple of people who've worked there for more than a decade -- and it's a good place.

Yet I am feeling radically overpeopled, as if I'd had to sing an opera in the round, with no wings at the side of the stage to rest in.

Next time, one or the other; clinic or deli. Not both.

ETA: Also, I am having trouble with Etsy. It won't let me sign in with my always-used email, kitmason@gmail.com. And I can't contact Customer Service to ask them why this is happening because they are only contacted once you've signed in. Suggestions, anyone?
