I slept very poorly last night - even worse than normal. Part of the problem might have been that I was up several hours past my normal bed time. I was bad; I was on YouTube scoping out information on Cinelerra and other non-linear video editors for Linux. Found out some neat stuff, including how useful the program AVIDemux is. AVIDemux is a small program that's not a full fledged editor but can do some neat stuff.

So, exhausted after a long day I should have fallen directly to sleep. No such luck. I was tossing and turning for some time before I dropped off. So, this morning I was exhausted. After eating breakfast and walking the dog I laid back down and dozed until 1 PM. It helped a little, coffee helped some too.

So I spent most of the day not doing a whole lot. I did cruise the documentation on ffmpeg and mencoder for transcoding video files. They're powerful, complex, command line programs with pages and pages of tweaky settings that will either make you go "Cool!" or "OMG this is frelling complex". Count me under the second option. Although there is a standard formula for transcoding video files that's been posted to the Intartubes but I wanted to know what all the options meant before I used it.

My brain was fried before because of poor sleep - going through the manuals for mencoder and ffmpeg? Deep fried.

Need to take shower and play guitar.
