I just recently came across the phrase 'Nazi bar' and I thought I'd share it.
It comes out of the complete thought that, "If you open up a bar and let the Nazi drink there, no one else will want to drink there and it will soon be known as the Nazi bar." The writer was talking about social media in general but Twitter comes to mind very quickly.
Now, we already have Nazi bars: Truth Media, Parler come to mind immediately, and I'm sure there's plenty of forums filled with right wing nut jobs (The Federalist Society, NRA) but these aren't mass media outlets. Twitter still is. How long it will remain that way is in doubt. An easy to use complete replacement of Twitter doesn't seem to be on the horizon but the rot is in there and it's getting pretty deep. People will keep using it as long as it's still working (hahahahah), there's no serious replacement and as long as the Nazi's are kept out of sight of Mr & Ms Suburbia. They'll keep going to the Nazi bar as long as it's not in their face. And so, the Nazi bar seeps into the everything it touches.
