I need to clear out some stuff but how?

I may have a borderline hoarding disorder - I collect old, trashy computers and make them work again.

I now have 5 laptops - 6 if you count my old Macbook from work.

The two best are Dell Latitudes - a 6400 and a 5400. They're basically dual core machines with 4 gigs of memory. I'm tossing in SSDs so they run fast. On the 6400 I replaced an Xubuntu install with a Windows 10 pro install. I figured Windows 10 would be the most attractive to a buyer.

The install went smoothly and nearly everything seems to work except for the video driver. Only the basic 1024 x 786 display is available. There are no Windows 10 drivers available. With Linux I can go much higher.

Having a low rez display isn't attractive. I also have to mess with activation. Linux is better but isn't popular. I'm not worried about making money off this - I just need to move the laptops. I could install Windows 7 and maybe hunt down the drivers for that - but I'm getting tired of this.

Windows 8. My desktop had Windows 8 on it, and it kept asking me if I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. One night it upgraded without my granting it permission. And I've been fighting it ever since. It's lucky that I have a rapport with machinery that makes it easy for me to convince machinery to behave the way it's supposed to. But Win10 is about to go End-Of-Life, and I don't want to have to learn Linux. And I'm getting shit from websites that won't let me see their content because I'm using SeaMonkey as my browser. There was some news recently about Chrome being infested with viruses. And I hate Edge. The only other choice I seem to have is Avast Anti-Virus Browser. Which is almost as awkward to use as Edge.

I understand many people don't want to learn new operating systems. There's probably a large number of folks who would prefer a nice Windows XP system... with a functional browser and good security. Unfortunately, we don't live in a world where that exists.

But most people grew up with Windows (of some kind) and an install of Linux Mint if prettier, more secure and more modern - people want Windows. I may just dump this as is on Craigslist and see who bites.
