I've been struggling with a painful and disfiguring scalp condition for over a year and a half. It's painful, bleeding and oozing. I've had cultures and biopsies taken, antibiotics prescribed, steroids, shampoos and creams to use. Nothing has helped.
It also made me loose 90 percent of my hair.
About 10 days ago the pain got ramped up to 11 and my entire body broke out in a rash. I got extra strength pain meds from a walk-in clinic which made the pain tolerable. I suffered during the weekend and made my dermatologist appointment on Tuesday.
My dermatologist ordered me to the hospital. My scalp had broken out in a staph infection.
So for several days I was force fed intravenous antibiotics. I had my vitals taken regularly and specifically at 3:300 AM. Blood was drawn around 4 AM. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much, if any at all.
They took me cold turkey off my anti-seizure meds which apparently I become allergic to. They switched to a different medication and hooked me up to a wireless heart monitor just to make sure I didn't have a reaction to the new meds.
Surprisingly, the food was pretty good.
I had with me my cellphone, kindle and laptop so I was not completely bored but I hadn't finished setting up the laptop and I didn't know all my passwords So, radio silence for a while.
They released me today and I'm back in my own home, my own bed. The rash seems to be clearing and the pain and scalp may be clearing too. I'm still on antibiotics and I have to wrap my head like a swami but after all this time, maybe the pain, pus and bleeding will go away.,
Still having trouble sleeping.
Getting my hair back is an unknown right now.,
