I've noticed the pattern, or rather the absence of pattern that led me originally to Live Journal.

Most of the people I started following on LJ migrated there when alt.devilbunnies newsgroup became so choked with spam that it was practically unuseable. Also, the devilbunnies community was shrinking as people moved on to other things.

From that community I branched out a bit - adding a few friends here and there over the years. Many of the people I met through other people or were lead to their posts by others in my community.

Now that I'm on Dreamwidth I've arrived without most of the old community. Perhaps it's time to strike out in a new direction with this journal.

At the moment, I'm too tired to do much exploring. I had a rough day at work with some critical equipment needing a reboot at an inconvienent time. I swear, if I hear anyone say that my position is superfluous because the "automation can do everything" I'm going to give that person a serious piece of trouble. Even though I was there and got everything fixed we still lost several records.

Computers - don't trust 'em. And in modern broadcasting *everything* has a computer in it. You got to watch the equipment like a hawk.

Home made dough for the win!

Baking time fail.

Well, I'll can still eat it. I have more yeast and flour, and more than a few ideas on how to make things better.

At first I thought that since this is a new journal I should have new images... but I really like the old ones from Live Journal.

So, the image of me with my Hagstrom bass guitar comes with me. It's a good image of me, if a little old.

Maybe later I'll post something more recent.

It's my day to run around and Get Stuff Done. I've got laundry going, got to the hardware store to get Stuff, got bagels (mmmmm... bagels), got groceries... still have a lot of cleaning on the agenda, don't know if I'll have the energy to do finish up. I figure if I get 50% of what I got planned done I'm doing okay.

Slept poorly again. Maybe if I re-arrange my pillows to elevate my shoulders and head it would help.

Pizza with home made crust is on the menu for tonight. I'll get cracking on the dough in a few hours.

I slept very poorly last night - even worse than normal. Part of the problem might have been that I was up several hours past my normal bed time. I was bad; I was on YouTube scoping out information on Cinelerra and other non-linear video editors for Linux. Found out some neat stuff, including how useful the program AVIDemux is. AVIDemux is a small program that's not a full fledged editor but can do some neat stuff.

So, exhausted after a long day I should have fallen directly to sleep. No such luck. I was tossing and turning for some time before I dropped off. So, this morning I was exhausted. After eating breakfast and walking the dog I laid back down and dozed until 1 PM. It helped a little, coffee helped some too.

So I spent most of the day not doing a whole lot. I did cruise the documentation on ffmpeg and mencoder for transcoding video files. They're powerful, complex, command line programs with pages and pages of tweaky settings that will either make you go "Cool!" or "OMG this is frelling complex". Count me under the second option. Although there is a standard formula for transcoding video files that's been posted to the Intartubes but I wanted to know what all the options meant before I used it.

My brain was fried before because of poor sleep - going through the manuals for mencoder and ffmpeg? Deep fried.

Need to take shower and play guitar.

I've been sorta following a little kerflufful over at YouTube. There's been a little pissing match between the Christian Creationists and the Atheist Scientists - with them trading barbs and snarky little videos. One of the shiny stars of the Creationists is this young man named VenomFangX. His videos ride to the defense of his fellow Christians with a mixture of angry young man attitude, Bible pounding double-talk, laughable science skills and the occasional BatMan outfit. Right now he's in a bit of trouble with PayPal for claiming to collect donations for a charity, then keeping large amounts of the money - to the tune of two to three thousand dollars.

And it seems his mommy and daddy have finally gotten wind of their little darling's activities and have shut down his web site.

Now... forget all the Christian-Atheist, Creationist-Scientist squabbling and home in on this one fact: this punk kid makes bad videos that's mostly him spouting nonsense and Biblical posing and people give him MONEY?

*double blinks*

Damn. I am in the wrong business.
