I got the first COVID vaccine Friday.
Saturday... well, I was achy and didn't feel like doing much of anything. So I didn't.
I usually do a lot of laundry and house cleaning on Saturdays. It didn't happen.
Today, Sunday... I feel okay. Time to catch up on laundry and housework and maybe make some broth from the remains of that chicken we bought.
Then boil up some mini potatoes in the broth. Mmmm.

Got my first shot of the COVID vaccine. I was impressed with the organization they had - double and triple checking IDs, keeping the lines moving and the people separated, cars being directed to parking areas, the whole bit. It's not just dumping the vaccine off at the CVS - this was the Pfizer version so it had to be kept cold and used up right away.
There was one slight hiccup when they misread my age as 55 instead of 65. I am graying but I really don't look my age, especially with the mask on.
Didn't hurt. I'm okay with needles as long as I'm not watching. So I closed my eyes and got the jab.
I go back in 3 weeks for dose number 2. Even after I've had both shots I'll be masking and social distancing - probably for a long time to come.
Stay healthy people!

Although a lot of people are building up stocks of popcorn for the upcoming impeachment trial, it might be a good idea to delay the trial just for a little while.
Why?
Because the criminals, terrorists and just plain dumbasses that invaded the Capitol with murder and mayhem in their eyes are being arrested... and their defense is changing from:

At every sentence I was going, "F**k you, f**k you, f**k you."
THE MAN INCITED A RIOT. TRUMP ENCOURAGED SEDITION. HE EGGED ON A CROWD TO GO ASSAULT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS.
And the crowd came armed and ready to do the deed - because at least some of them had planned to do so. The planned to hunt down Congressmen and women, assault them, kidnap them, have mock trials (probably on Twitter and Parler) and then murder them.
I don't want unity with neo Nazis, fascists and white nationalists - I want those violent thugs thrown into jail and the Big Orange One can join them. I want Law and Order. Jail them. Throw away the key.

Today one of my major programs at work went belly up because Flash is dead.
They used Flash? Seriously?
I understand Adobe pulling support, I understand Adobe waving it's arms for *years* saying "Hey! End of support coming up!"
What I *don't* understand is them placing a logic bomb inside Flash so it shuts down my browser.

And what I *don't* understand is why our suppliers didn't fix this problem BEFORE IT BECAME A PROBLEM.
I *do* understand my work place using older software and hardware. There are still places where Windows XP is still being used - offline of course. We're still using a *lot* of Windows 7 - again, I understand because Windows 10 SUCKS. And it would probably break mission critical software. We're a broadcasting station - why would we want Candy Crush loaded up into our mission critical systems?

Traitors in Blue. There's video and picture evidence of police AIDING and ABETTING the rioters.
This is not a failure of intelligence - everyone knew potentially violent and ARMED people were coming. Barely a shot was fired. No nightsticks were unlimbered. Pepper spray and tear gas were deployed by the teaspoon. Where were the crowd suppressing heat and sound rays? Where were the tanks?
Maybe they were kept in reserve in case a black person with a cellphone or maybe even a Subway sandwich showed up.
They say one bad apple spoils the barrel - I say it's time to toss the barrel.

I think we all know that the beginning/end of a year is sort of arbitrary but we'll run with it.
The effects of 2020 - COVID, the wildfires, COVIDIOTS, refugees (remember them? They're still drowning off the coast of Italy), and the actions of police and politicians f***ing things up are going to be with us for a long time. A lot of them have been a problem for a long time before that...
Still, it's good to turn the page, throw out the old calendar and hope for better days.
It's going to take a lot of work.
Personally, I want to get back to writing again. I've actually been creative by working on my You Tube channel - Malada Media Labs - with editing video, creating music and writing scripts. It fills in a hole in my life: the need to be creative - but it's not writing. I've got characters who keep me up at night showing me their stories and they won't SHUT UP.
I've got the bones for two fantasy novels that I need to put my butt in the chair and work them out. One is my necromancer student, the other my Drow. (Nope... not what you're thinking. She's got wings.)
I also want to try to decrease my intake of caffeine. I'll mix decaf with my regular brew because decaf tastes terrible, but a mix is palatable.
So bye bye 2020. F*** you and all that you brought. Looking forward to the hard work of 2021.

Earlier this week, Leslie West - rock guitarist demigod died.
He was 75. A good life, yes... but still...
He was literally the biggest thing ever to pick up the guitar. I caught him once on tour fronting for *blech* Ted Nugent. Leslie blew up the stage with his awesome playing. He blew my mind when he started playing the Jack Bruce song, "Theme from an Imaginary Western". So cool.
Second FU - a big bomb went off this morning in downtown Nashville. So far, there are no known fatalities but... Christmas morning bomber? F.... U....
I'm so done with this year.
